Trooper Traverse

Barrel Aged Gin

Tasting Notes: A toasted note is brought to our craft gin, bringing a warm flavor to the anise, citrus, and lavender in the bottle. Almost as if the time in the barrel has added notes seen in ciders and mulled wine.

Bottle text: In February of 1944, the 10th Mountain Division, uniquely trained in ski warfare, made the first and only Trooper Traverse—an on-skis journey from Leadville to Aspen, up and over the Continental Divide. A 40-mile trip with some 90 lbs. of gear in tow, these men embarked on the ultimate test of their skill and a last grand adventure before taking their role in the European theater of World War II. This journey ended with an infamous toast at the Hotel Jerome and would inspire Colorado’s Hut to Hut program, still in place today. When we created Highlands Distillery, we sought to create spirits with the same sense of hard work and adventure these men embodied. This bottle takes our Majestic Twelve Gin to new heights, places unknown, and the brotherhood of aged spirits—fit to toast to all the adventures to come.
